Education
Ken Rutherford holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Georgetown University, and B.A. and MBA degrees from the University of Colorado, where he was inducted into its Hall for Distinguished alumni.
Employment
He has served as the Director of JMU’s Center for International Stabilization and Recovery (2010-2019), a two time Fulbright Scholar at Hue University in Vietnam (2024) and University of Amman in Jordan (2005), an Associate Professor of Political Science at Missouri State University (2002-2010), a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mauritania (1987-1989), an UNHCR Emergency Refugee Coordinator in Senegal (1989), and a humanitarian emergency relief officer in northern Kenya and Somalia (1993)
